I am honored and privileged to invite all of you to the 2009 Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference. This year we combine a fantastic CLE lineup with a stunning location, the historic Roundhouse and Railyards in my hometown of Evanston, Wyoming. The CLE Committee has hit a home run with a line-up that includes nationally renowned speakers Ross Kodner, Mike Cash and Susan Berson together with some of Wyoming’s best lawyers and judges. There is truly something for everyone – technology, office management, civil and criminal trial practice, corporate law and estate planning. Believe me, the quality will be second-to-none.

Now, you may be wondering, why Evanston? Well, I’ve been hearing that since I moved here in 1981 so I’ll tell you what I’ve always said–Evanston is a great destination. The location is ideal for almost every outdoor recreation activity. We have a championship golf course that I think is one of the finest in the region. Any day, a walk along the Bear River State Park and Bear Project trails provides the opportunity to see moose, dear, elk, buffalo and birds of varieties too numerous to mention. Evanston’s historic downtown is a tribute not only to the railroad spirit that gave Evanston its start but also to the modern day leaders and visionaries that have preserved and enhanced that history.

If world-class hiking, biking and fishing appeal to you, Evanston is a mere 30 minutes from the Uinta Mountains and the Uinta Wasatch Cache National Forest. For unlimited dining, shopping and recreation activities, a 45-minute drive will land you in a world-famous year-round resort community - Park City, Utah. Historic Fort Bridger is less than a half an hour away and if you haven’t been there, it’s well worth the visit. Bring your golf clubs, bring your fishing pole and bring your spirit of adventure!

If you haven’t visited Evanston in a while, there is much to see. And what better reason than to socialize and catch up with friends and colleagues from around the state. I look forward to seeing you all in Evanston.
