The City of Great Falls' legislative and policy-making body is the City Commission which employs the City Manager to direct the day-to-day operations. The City employs 542 full and part-time personnel and has a $90.4 million budget with a $25.8 million General Fund. Under the general direction of the City Manager, the City Attorney serves as the Chief Legal Counsel for the City, providing comprehensive legal services to the City Manager, City Commission, and all city departments.

The position requires an LLB or Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in the State of Montana. A minimum of five years of practical experience as a licensed attorney, municipal experience, and trial litigation experience desired. Experience with municipal law, risk management, and familiarity with local government is preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
