Judges Wanted!

The Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons Trial Advocacy Competition is just around the corner. This year's competition is scheduled for October 12-17, 2009, and the organizers are looking for judges. As one of the largest competitions held at the College of Law, this competition requires the assistance of many volunteer judges. Any time that you might be able to contribute will enable all interested students to participate and will continue the successful tradition of this competition. In recognition of the expenditure of your valuable time, approval of approximately 3 hours of general CLE credit have been requested.

The Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons Trial Advocacy Competition is sponsored by the regional law firm of Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP. The competition is designed to encourage the development of trial skills in all aspects of civil trials. The winners of the intraschool competition will represent the University of Wyoming in the regional competition, sponsored by the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America). The goal of the national competition is to inspire excellence in trial advocacy through training and education for both law students and practicing attorneys. This is an exceptional opportunity for law students to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before distinguished members of the bar and bench.

This year's competition will be held Monday, October 12th through Saturday, October 17th, 2009, at the University of Wyoming College of Law in Laramie, Wyoming. The competition will begin each evening at 6:00 p.m. and will finish around 8:30 p.m. (except for Friday, October 16th, which will start in the afternoon and Saturday, October 17, which will begin in the late morning).

If you are interested in participating or would like to refer someone who may be interested in participating as a judge for this competition, please e-mail Christyne Martens or call her at (320) 761-4261.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
