Peremptory Disqualification Rule Suspended

Effective immediately, the Wyoming Supreme Court has suspended Rule 21.1(a) of the Wyoming Rules of Criminal Procedure in all cases and Rule 40.1(b)(1) of the Wyoming Rules of Civil Procedure in juvenile proceedings. This matter came before the Court on its own motion following reports of abuse of the procedures providing for peremptory disqualification of judges in criminal and juvenile cases.

These suspensions will continue pending consideration of the rules by the Court and the Permanent Rules Advisory Committee, both the Criminal Division and the Juvenile Division.
