The Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee is the body charged by the Wyoming Supreme Court to protect the public from the unauthorized practice of law by non-lawyers. In order to operate more effectively, the UPL Committee has proposed certain rules changes. The first is amendments to Rules 11 and 11.1 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Wyoming Providing for Organization and Government of the Bar Association and Attorneys at Law of the State of Wyoming. The other, more significant, proposed change is a virtual overhaul of the committee’s procedural rules. The new rules set out below would supplant the existing Rules of Procedure Governing Unauthorized Practice of Law.

At its November 15, 2013 meeting, the Board of Officers and Commissioners approved the rules to be put out for comment to members of the Wyoming State Bar. Please submit your comments to Mark Gifford, Bar Counsel. The comment period will remain open until December 31, 2013.
