Attorneys and Judges to Gather in Cheyenne
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar today announced that it will be hosting its 2017 Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference at Little America Hotel & Resort in Cheyenne, September 12 – 15, 2017. The meeting is a combined gathering of the Wyoming State Bar and the Wyoming Judiciary. Four-hundred attorneys and judges are expected to be in attendance.
This year’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference will feature two full days of judicial education for District Court and Circuit Court judges throughout Wyoming. The conference will also offer three days of quality educational programs for Wyoming lawyers.
The Bar is thrilled to have Pete Williams, NBC News Justice Correspondent, deliver the keynote speech at this year’s Annual Banquet. A native of Casper, Wyoming, and a 1974 graduate of Stanford University, Williams was a reporter and news director at KTWO Radio and Television in Casper from 1974 to 1985.
Williams went to Washington in 1986 to join the staff of Congressman Dick Cheney as a legislative assistant and press secretary. In 1989, when Cheney was named Secretary of Defense, Williams was appointed Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs. He served as Pentagon spokesman during the Persian Gulf War and military operations in Panama and Somalia. The National Association of Government Communicators named him Communicator of the Year in 1991. Williams has covered the Justice Department and the U.S. Supreme Court for NBC News since 1993 as a correspondent based in Washington, DC. He has also covered the Department of Homeland Security since its creation after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“Our Annual Meeting serves as a unique opportunity for Wyoming’s lawyers and judges to get together and not only learn and conduct business, but to also network Wyoming-style,” said John Masterson, Casper attorney and President of the Wyoming State Bar.
Anyone wishing further information about the Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference should contact Sharon Wilkinson, Executive Director, at (307) 432-2102.
