CHEYENNE ATTORNEY RECOGNIZED WITH WYOMING STATE BAR SERVICE AWARD

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Cheyenne lawyer Gregory C. Dyekman has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Burman Extraordinary Service Award, recognizing his decades of exceptional service to Wyoming’s legal profession and communities. The award was presented during an awards banquet at the Wyoming State Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference hosted in Casper last week.

The John M. Burman Extraordinary Service Award is given in memory of Professor Burman, who died in February 2019, and who is remembered as a recognized expert in the field of legal and judicial ethics, codes of conduct for lawyers and judges, and professional responsibility. Burman was a prolific writer in these areas of the law, as well as in the law of children and families, the child welfare system, and the juvenile justice system.

The award was presented to Dyekman by Steve Easton, former Dean of the University of Wyoming College of Law, who recognized his many years of exemplary service to the Bar, the University of Wyoming College of Law, the community and numerous Wyoming nonprofits.

A Wyoming attorney since 1980, Dyekman has devoted his career to serving others through leadership, mentorship, pro bono work, philanthropy and community involvement. His service includes numerous Wyoming State Bar and Wyoming Supreme Court appointments, more than two decades on the University of Wyoming College of Law Dean’s Advisory Board and service as an adjunct professor at the College of Law.

His commitment extends well beyond the legal profession. Dyekman has served on the boards of numerous Wyoming nonprofits, including the University of Wyoming Foundation, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, United Way of Laramie County, Cheyenne Family YMCA, Leadership Wyoming and Boy Scouts of America.

Dyekman is also a longstanding philanthropist, having made hundreds of gifts supporting the University of Wyoming and numerous Wyoming organizations. His giving has supported the College of Law, legal clinics providing pro bono services, education, the arts, athletics and other community causes.

The award nomination describes Dyekman as someone who “embodies service as a Wyoming attorney” and whose career reflects the selfless spirit of service exemplified by John Burman.

Criteria for the John M. Burman Extraordinary Service Aware are extensive. Recipients must demonstrate a history of extraordinary service to Wyoming lawyers, the Wyoming State Bar, the University of Wyoming College of Law, the Wyoming judiciary, the citizens of Wyoming and the international community. Like Professor Burman, they must be recognized by their peers as exemplifying legal ethics and professional responsibility.

The Wyoming State Bar congratulates Gregory C. Dyekman on this well-deserved honor and thanks him for his extraordinary and enduring service to Wyoming.
