Donnell Receives Wyoming State Bar President’s Award

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Hon. Jeffrey A. Donnell is this year’s recipient of the President’s Award. The award was presented at this year’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference, which took place last week at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center in Laramie.

The award is reserved for a person or organization that has special meaning to the President of the Wyoming State Bar. This year’s President, Devon O’Connell of Laramie, recognized Judge Donnell.

“Judge Donnell has had more of an impact on my career and how I practice than any other single person in the Bar,” said O’Connell. “He demands excellence and professionalism at every turn. He is the consummate trial judge and is always fair, impartial, and wise. He rules promptly on issues, has immaculate control over his docket, and he treats all with respect and dignity, even when they might deserve much less. He is retiring at the end of the year and will be sorely missed in the Second Judicial District.”

The Honorable Jeffrey A. Donnell is a Wyoming native, having been born and raised in Worland, Wyoming. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wyoming in 1974 and went on to the College of Law to obtain his Juris Doctorate in 1977. Judge Donnell practiced with the Worland firm of Davis, Donnell, Worrall & Bancroft until his appointment to the Albany County District Court in 1996. Since his appointment, he has been on the Wyoming Children and Families Advisory Board; UW College of Law – Honorary Member, Order of the Coif (2004); President, District Judges’ Conference (2004 – 2005); Chairman, Permanent Rule Advisory Committee – Evidence Division (1996-present); and the recipient of the Lehman Award for Judicial Excellence & Leadership in 2007.
