Edwards Receives Pro Bono Award Posthumously
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that the late Billie Ruth Edwards, an attorney from Cheyenne who passed away in January, posthumously received one of three 2016 Pro Bono Awards for Legal Services for Indigent Clients. Angie Dorsch, Executive Director at Equal Justice Wyoming, announced Edwards’s receipt of the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Laramie, Wyoming.
The nomination for the award was also submitted by Equal Justice Wyoming.
Edwards had demonstrated a sincere commitment to doing pro bono work and had accepted five pro bono cases through Equal Justice Wyoming in 2015. Equal Justice Wyoming often encounters clients with complex family matters and placing these cases can be difficult.
In addition, Edwards also volunteered at monthly advice clinics offering free legal advice and to help ensure access to the legal system would also provide full volunteer representation after meeting with clients at an advice clinic.
Members of the public needing pro bono assistance should contact the Legal Advice and Intake Hotline at 877-432-9955.
