Bar Seeks Non-Lawyer Volunteers to Serve on Boards/Committees

 

CHEYENNE– The Wyoming State Bar today announced that it is seeking non-lawyer volunteers to serve on the following boards and/or committee.

  1. Board of Continuing Legal Education
    The purpose of this board is to set and interpret rules and policies concerning mandatory continuing legal education for lawyers who practice in Wyoming. The board also certifies accreditation and reporting procedures. Members of this Board are appointed by the Wyoming Supreme Court for three-year terms.
  1. Board of Professional Responsibility
    The purpose of this board is to receive, docket and investigate complaints of attorney misconduct and conduct hearings as warranted. The board operates on behalf of the Wyoming Supreme Court. It may administer reprimands in less serious instances or misconduct. For more serious or repeated misconduct, it may recommend imposition of public discipline to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Members of this Board are appointed by the Wyoming Supreme Court for three-year terms.
  1. Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee
    This committee investigates allegations of the unauthorized practice of law in Wyoming and may initiate litigation in district courts for injunctive relief or criminal contempt proceedings. The committee may also make recommendations to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Members of this Board are appointed by the Wyoming Supreme Court for three-year terms.
