I’m fine, I’m totally fine: Welcoming 2021 by Focusing on Attorney Health and Wellness
January 27, 2021 12:00 PM-1:00 PM
Attorney wellness is not an oxymoron. It is an essential skill. This is especially true for young lawyers who face steep learning curves, student loan debt, new jobs, new communities, and life changes coupled with the ordinary attorney stressors of the billable hour, opposing counsel, intellectual rigor, depressing fact patterns, and client management. Attorney wellness is an approach to improve resilience and confidence in the face of those stressors, so attorneys can thrive not just in the practice of law but in life. Join this CLE for a breakdown of the attorney wellness model and methods to apply that model, with a special emphasis on challenges unique to young lawyers.
Speakers
Maryt Fredrickson
Maryt Fredrickson is a practicing lawyer and an attorney wellness writer. She earned her J.D. in 2010 from the University of Wyoming. By 2014, she was a burnt-out, overweight, unhealthy, dissatisfied lawyer. She then switched jobs, switched cities, and continued to practice law in her current role of Staff Attorney for the Honorable Timothy C. Day in Wyoming’s Ninth Judicial District. She soon began writing the wellness column in the Wyoming Lawyer and teaching workshops and CLEs at conferences and other events around Wyoming. On the side, she is also a yoga teacher and the founder of 307 Yoga LLC, a wellness project whose mission is “wellness for busy people.”
