Laramie Attorney Receives Wyoming State Bar President’s Award
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Kermit C. Brown, an attorney from Laramie, is this year’s recipient of the President’s Award. The award was presented today during a small awards luncheon held in conjunction with the Bar’s Virtual Annual Meeting.
The award is reserved for a person or organization that has special meaning to the President of the Wyoming State Bar. This year’s President, Kelly M. Neville also of Laramie, recognized Brown.
“Kermit has a long history of service to our country, the State of Wyoming and the practice of law,” said Neville. “He feels strongly about his duty to bring younger attorneys into the profession; in fact, Kermit took me under his wing as a young attorney and provided invaluable opportunities to learn and advance my practice. He always modeled the highest standards of ethics, professionalism and service. Kermit’s mentorship and guidance undoubtedly molded me into the attorney and public servant I am today.”
Kermit C. Brown was raised in Casper, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1965 with a degree in animal husbandry, and in 1966 with a degree in business administration. Brown spent four years in the Navy attaining the rank of lieutenant before returning to the University of Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1973. Brown practiced law in Wheatland for two years and in Rawlins for 17 years before moving his law practice to Laramie. He served as President of the Wyoming State Bar from 1994-95.
Brown is the senior partner in Brown & Hiser LLC, where his practice is concentrated in business and agricultural law and estate planning.
In addition to acting as an attorney, Brown is a commercial pilot and was a flight instructor for many years. He also served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2005-2016, serving as the House Majority Floor Leader from 2013-2014 and serving as Speaker of the House from 2015-2016.
