McCartney Receives Pro Bono Award
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Ken McCartney, an attorney from Cheyenne, has received one of two 2015 Pro Bono Awards for Legal Services for Indigent Clients. Chris Jorgenson, Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Coordinator at Equal Justice Wyoming, announced McCartney’s receipt of the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Jackson, Wyoming.
The nomination for the award was also submitted by Jorgenson.
McCartney has demonstrated a sincere commitment to doing pro bono work and has accepted five pro bono cases through Equal Justice Wyoming during the past fiscal year. Equal Justice Wyoming often encounters clients looking to file bankruptcy, and placing these cases can be difficult. While McCartney’s office is located in Cheyenne, he has taken cases throughout the state.
In addition to helping clients, McCartney serves as a mentor to volunteer attorneys, where he is available for substantive and procedural instruction and advice when needed. McCartney helps to fill a substantial unmet need by continuing to accept pro bono cases through Equal Justice Wyoming.
Members of the public needing pro bono assistance should contact the Legal Advice and Intake Hotline at 877-432-9955.
