Pritchett Receives Champion of Justice for Legal Service Award
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Professor Suzan M. Pritchett, an attorney from Laramie, has received the Champion of Justice for Legal Services Awards. Danielle Cover, Assistant Professor and Director of the Civil Legal Services Clinic at the University Of Wyoming College Of Law, presented the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The nomination for the award was also submitted by Cover.
Since joining the faculty of the College of Law in 2012, Suzan Pritchett has become a passionate advocate for immigrant justice throughout the state of Wyoming. She regularly speaks to community groups about immigration law and policy, including refugee resettlement, undocumented immigration, and issues particular to Wyoming’s immigrant communities. She also volunteers her time to attorneys across the state to answer immigration-related questions and provide guidance on the immigration consequences of state court proceedings. She has been a voice for undocumented students at the University of Wyoming and in the state’s public schools, including serving on the planning committee for the Wyoming Latina Youth Conference and publishing on the issue of funding for higher education of undocumented youth.
Beyond representing hundreds of non-citizens with law students in the International Human Rights Clinic, Suzie has also undertaken personal pro-bono representation in a number of immigration cases for residents of Wyoming. She is on the Board of Directors for the Albany County SAFE Project and a regular contributor to the Wyoming Humanities Council.
Pritchett is an Associate Professor and Director of the Family and Immigrant Justice Clinic at the University Of Wyoming College Of Law. She holds a BA in Religion and Gender and Women’s Studies from Grinnell College, an MA in International Development from the University of Sussex in England, and a JD from the University Of Iowa College Of Law. She loves the opportunities for service that living in Wyoming brings and is motivated by the belief that social justice happens one student, one client, and one case at a time.
Pritchett’s commitment to providing high-quality legal services for Wyoming’s undocumented residents and to offering immigration policy information and advice across Wyoming has earned her the title “Champion of Justice.”
