WHITING TAKES TOP SEAT OF WYOMING STATE BAR
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that James T. Whiting, an attorney from Lander, Wyoming, has stepped up as President of its organization.
Whiting succeeds Anna M. Reeves Olson of Casper, Wyoming.
Whiting was born, raised and has lived in Wyoming nearly his entire life. He graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2003 and has worked as a law clerk, deputy county and prosecuting attorney, public defender and a solo practice attorney. Whiting’s primary areas of practice include criminal law, divorce, bankruptcy, wills, trusts and estates, real estate, Indian law, and he is also a federal CJA panel member.
He served as the Bar’s Ninth Judicial District Commissioner from September 2017 to September 2023 before he was elected to serve as the Vice President. He served in that capacity until August 16, 2024, when he was appointed to serve as the President-Elect of the organization following Governor Gordon’s appointment of Erin E. Weisman to the Circuit Court bench in the Ninth Judicial District.
Whiting is presently on, or has served on, numerous other civic boards and community betterment organizations. He is proud to be a Wyoming lawyer and is convinced, based on his experience, that the Wyoming State Bar is second to none, to and including, its membership, leadership and organization.
