Dear Wyoming State Bar Colleagues:

On behalf of the Officers, Commissioners and staff of the Wyoming State Bar, it is my sincere privilege to invite you to join us in Laramie for the Wyoming State Bar’s 2018 Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference. The Annual Meeting takes place September 18-21, 2018, at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center on the campus of the University of Wyoming.

The Continuing Legal Education Committee, chaired by Billie LM Addleman, put together a truly amazing line-up of CLEs for this year’s Annual Meeting. For example, on Wednesday, September 19, renowned attorney and author Michael Tigar will present a plenary session entitled “Learning and Telling the Story of Your Case,” and on Thursday, September 20, law professor Lorraine Bannai will present a session on the Japanese American incarceration during WWII. Bannai was a member of Fred Korematsu’s coram nobis team that - decades after WWII - successfully challenged the incarceration of Japanese Americans, eventually leading to a formal apology from the United States and restitution of more than $1,000,000,000 for those who were improperly incarcerated. This year’s Annual Banquet keynote speaker is Ed Hochuli, a long-time trial attorney in the Arizona law firm of Jones, Skelton and Hochuli, P.L.C. Hochuli is better known for his work as an NFL referee, including in two Super Bowls—the Broncos 31-24 Super Bowl XXXII victory over the Packers, and the Patriots’ thrilling 32-29 win over the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII.

An Annual Meeting would not be complete without some fun things to do outside of the “classroom,” and this year’s Annual Meeting will be no different. In addition to the Welcome Reception and Pro Bono Luncheon, we are encouraging you to enjoy the fall weather in Albany County during this year’s Annual Meeting, including by participating in a golf tournament at Jacoby Golf Course, and in a 5K run through downtown Laramie. Devon O’Connell’s “Yoga for Lawyers” is also back by popular demand. For those interested in arriving a few days early, the Wyoming Cowboys host the Wofford Terriers at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 15.

As usual, the most rewarding part of the Annual Meeting will be seeing and visiting with old friends and colleagues, as well as finding new friends from amongst the Bar and Bench. I look forward to seeing all of you at the Annual Meeting in September, and wish you all safe and happy travels on your way to Laramie.
